Malta (called Melita in Acts) is the island in the Mediterranean Sea where Paul was shipwrecked on his journey to Rome. The islanders showed unusual kindness. Paul survived a viper bite unharmed and healed the sick, leading many to honor him and provide supplies for his continuing journey.
