Gethsemane, meaning "oil press," was a garden on the Mount of Olives where Jesus often went to pray. On the night of his arrest, Jesus agonized in prayer here while his disciples slept. Judas betrayed him here with a kiss, and soldiers arrested him, beginning his journey to the cross.
