Mount Tabor

While the Gospels refer to a 'high mountain' without naming it specifically, Mount Tabor has been identified as the site of the Transfiguration since at least the 4th century AD. Its prominent height in Lower Galilee, proximity to Jesus' ministry area, and early Christian tradition have solidified this identification, though some scholars propose Mount Hermon as an alternative location.

Mount Tabor's isolated position rising 588 meters above the surrounding plain made it an ideal military gathering point and observation post. Deborah chose it as the assembly point for Israelite forces before their battle against Sisera, as its height provided tactical advantage and its location allowed control over the surrounding valleys and trade routes.
