Naaman was the commander of the army of the king of Syria, a great and honorable man, but he had leprosy. Through a young Israelite slave girl, he learned of the prophet Elisha. Despite initial reluctance to bathe in the Jordan River, he obeyed and was miraculously healed, declaring faith in the God of Israel.

Simple Obedience

Naaman expected a dramatic display from Elisha. Instead he received simple instructions: wash in the Jordan. Pride almost kept him from healing. God often works through simple obedience, not spectacular performances. Our pride can block blessing.
